Culture Remix: Carnival Collective Where rhythm and voice meet unity A one-day gathering celebrating the rich traditions of Caribbean Carnival - music, movement, story and community, held with warmth by Jimi Lyons, Trinity Goldie, Julia Horne, Sureya and Lurleen Lewis. A carefully and fun crafted space for generations to connect, express and celebrate, remembering ourselves beyond the given roles we carry day to day. Includes activities such as: Children's Activities and Sensory Circles Storytelling and Poetry Dance Moves and Caribbean Choreography Somatics to embody generational Integrity Drumming Nyabinghi Opening Circle Roots, Rhythms and Chanting Reggae & Caribbean Influenced Live Music Artists A family-friendly space runs alongside the main programme. This is a sober event where we share Culture, Art, Food, Stalls and Drinks to support an embodied and collective approach to experience the depths of Caribbean culture and authentic history of the Carnival. Held by Jimi 12:15 – 1:00 | Snacks & Collective Conversations Caribbean flavours and tonic drinks alongside open dialogue - Carnival's history, roots and living culture in the refectory Held by All 1:00 – 3:00 | Soca Dance Moves & Somatic Reflections Street Dance with flavours of Carribean, incl Soca with group choreography, no experience necessary Bodyscan and integration — meridian points and resolutions. Held by Soraya/ + Trinity 3:00 – 6:00 | Drumming, Rhythm Circle, Chants, Songs, Poetry & Roots Reggae & Calypso Shares The heartbeat of the day - drumming circle, spoken word and storytelling, roots and soul songs, closing with unity chants. Held by Jimi + Lurleen + Trinity Flexibility for the programme to flow  - not every element is scripted to the minute. Facilitators read the room and lead responsively. PILOT EVENT CONCEPT | AUGUST 2026 Led by Jimi Lyons & Trinity Goldie THE VISION Culture Mix is a collective space celebrating carnival as its first theme - warm, creative, and rooted in body, mind and spirit. Designed to close the gap between cultures and in our inner worlds. We bring focus and intention through a unique approach, each gathering moves through music, movement, dialogue, and shared creative experience. On 29th August we highlight the rich traditions of the Caribbean diaspora and the depth of community music and oral culture, bringing a lens of reflection, play and conscious conversation. This is more than a workshop or a performance. It is a living, breathing shared experience with a rhythm and a voice of unity, for whoever is in the room, visioned with care and shared with warmth by facilitators who have spent decades in creative and wellbeing spaces, all upholding a vision for autonomy and safe expression. Let's explore what happens when we come together in integrity and cultural resonance, where all are welcome and yet nothing is expected - creating a space where people can connect, integrate, express and practice being in resonance. Optional somatic and reflective practices offer alignment and integration. Come as you are and leave feeling lighter. THE WHY Often in collective and creative movements or experiences there can be layers of authority, expectation or judgement which limit or individuate us away from our inherent nature or true calling. The intent is to tap into the gifts of sharing and presence where autonomy, reciprocity and creativity thrive. As individuals and in groups we need to relearn healthy ways of relating to ourselves and others through the simplicity of music, rhythm, movement, conversation and curiosity. Come as you are and open into who you are becoming. THE SPACE Having a place to come back to where we can remember ourselves outside of individual roles or constraints is a luxury in common-day life. Sat inside our welcoming, fun space is medicine - a place to tune in and land, that we all crave in our over-independent, isolated, accelerated and digitised lives. We bring: ✦ Consistency, vibrancy, and a clear identity ✦ An enriching community - existing networks across wellness, music and conscious culture ✦ Two trusted leads with deep roots in this community, alongside a circle of respected and experienced guest facilitators ✦ A format that is self-sustaining and grows with its community ✦ Carnival season as a natural launch moment - momentum built in On show are a live thread of creative arts - flags, colours and carnival outfits from the diaspora, poetry and books, and open space for participants to express through movement, voice and story. Culture Mix isn't just facilitated - it's co-created by everyone in the room. THE TEAM/FACILITATORS/CIRCLE Jimi Lyons Roots reggae acoustic artist, industry mentor and community legend. Over five decades at the heart of the UK roots and reggae scene, Jimi has performed alongside Sade, Dennis Brown, Bunny Wailer and Julian Marley, recorded at Tuff Gong in Kingston, and mentored artists including Yussef Dayes and Ayanna Witter-Johnson. He was co-founder of the iconic Vibes & Pressure at Passing Clouds, Dalston. Jimi has sparked the movement for Culture Mix from a deep intent to bridge the gaps missing in creative, intergenerational and community spaces, leading much of the vocal and rhythm sections alongside the day's cultural conversations. Trinity Goldie Energy practitioner, transformation mentor and conscious music facilitator, Goldie has spent over three decades building community through music, somatics and self-healing practice - including years rooted at Colet House through kirtan, retreats and transformational programmes. Her work bridges the pieces often left out of conventional wellbeing spaces: autonomy, embodiment, and the reclaiming of self within culture and community. Culture Mix is the fruition of years of visioning - bringing music, healing and cultural celebration into one shared room. Julia Horne - singer, artist and founder of Jumas Journeys, Julia supports pre-school families to explore culture and music through the senses. She'll lead a family and toddler session, and a whole-day conversation on Carnival's origins and living culture. Sureya - a Brit School graduate with 15 years' dance and stage experience, Sureya brings her energy and curation into a Caribbean-rooted movement warm-up, weaving soca and street styles into a group choreography for the day. Lurleen Lewis - founder of At Your Request - Creative Wellbeing, healing facilitator and singer, Lurleen focuses on intergenerational healing, bringing roots and soul classics songs that carry unity, inspiration and welcome through the day.
