Double Concert: James D'Angelo and Gina Fergione/Lawrence Ball
All-night gong baths and raga concerts at London's singular festival for transformative listening and new tonal music.
Renowned composer/pianist D'Angelo performs classical and jazz, then Gina and Lawrence presen a new medium of words spoken/ sung to music
The music of pianist-composer James D'Angelo rises from the mainstream of tonal styles — the early 20th-century Impressionists through Prokofiev, Holst, Hindemith, Copland and Barber — and reaches into the modern jazz language of the 1950s and 60s. A contemporary composer drawing on jazz and his classical influences alike, his work is presented here alongside the composers who shaped it.
Gina Fergione is a singer, composer, teacher artist and festival and choir director based in North London. In the second concert, Gina and Lawrence present a new medium where words are both sung and spoken with music, exploring the combination of speech and song in a way that invites awareness of the fullness of the poem's meanings.
The concert is part of the 12th Planet Tree Music Festival. Full details here
