Somatic workshops & embodiment in London
Somatic work starts from the body rather than the story: slow movement, attention to sensation, and pauses long enough to notice what shifts. It's used for trauma, stress and plain disconnection, and looks far less dramatic than it feels.
London's somatic scene spans trauma-informed workshops, Feldenkrais classes, embodiment labs and movement research. Most sessions are small, and touch — where it happens at all — is always asked for first.

Common questions
- What does somatic mean?
- Somatic simply means 'of the body'. In practice it describes approaches that work through felt sensation and movement rather than talk alone — noticing where you brace, letting a movement finish, following what the nervous system does next.
- Is somatic work therapy?
- Some of it is: somatic experiencing and similar modalities are clinical approaches delivered by trained practitioners. Group workshops and embodiment classes are educational rather than therapeutic, though they often touch the same ground.
- Will I have to be touched?
- Not unless you choose to be. Most London sessions are solo or guided in pairs with explicit consent, and 'I'd rather not' is a complete answer.
